Rep. Richard Neal The first ceasefire of the troubles? Really?!! And you fail to mention that this particular ceasefire only lasted 17 months! 🙄 You haven’t a clue what you’re talking about.

Richie either conveniently forgets the Combined Loyalist Military Command ceasefire called in 1991, which, acted as an impetus and window of opportunity for the potential of lasting peace should the Provisional Republican Movement permanently lay down their arms.

#OnThisDay in 1991 the IRA held Protestant siblings hostage in their home, beat, abducted 2 & forced them to try & drive a tractor twice, with bomb laden trailer to a nearby Army checkpoint, Annaghmartin, Fermanagh. The tractors bogged. Children then sent home without shoes #OTD

Well known I'm no big fan of International football or the break. It's long lost it's way with players chopping and changing countries and managers from different countries, no real distinct difference in play etc. That said though. I hope England stuff the Mexicans tonight. 😁

Thank god the ROI fans only boo players who used them before moving to England like Rice and Grealish. Imagine if they booed all players that jumped ship (from NI to ROI) it would be 90 mins of boos.

I hear the Poundshop Stevie Nicks doth protest too much again. The punk rocker with flowers in her hair's next defence of Kneecap should be fun.

"Lizzie's in a box." "PI, PI, PIRA." You WON'T hear or read a word about this from the media. Now Imagine if those English fans has reacted to such disgusting provocation. Media overkill.

#OnThisDay in 1987 the IRA murdered Harry Sloan, 38. Unmarried, Lorry driver shot 7:40 am, walking to his lorry, Alliance Parade, N. Belfast. IRA said he was in UDR - he wasn’t. Brother-in-law: “Harry wasn’t interested in politics. He spent the 12th fishing in the Republic.” #OTD

While the student union reps and bottom-tier career politicians play culture wars on the council, this is the dirty state of the city center. Maybe they want Belfast to look like the ghettos their tribal politics enshrines & facilitates. I don't.

The weekend remarks by Hilary Benn praising the 'all-island economy' suggested a retreat from one of the concrete commitments in the Safeguarding the Union deal: a "complete repeal" of statutory duties relating to the all-island economy, which... 1/2 newsletter.co.uk/news/politics/…

...the last government said distorted its priority, which was protecting NI's place in the UK internal market. Thus, it raises questions about what the new government plans to do about pledges under that Safeguarding deal - which, incidentally, it never seems to mention 2/2
