Yesterday, I was laid off by Texas Tribune after nearly 9 years.

New leadership got rid of its longest-tenured reporters and said they’ll no longer cover the criminal justice beat.

No one on police, prisons, courts, the death penalty. In Texas.

Here’s some of what we’ll lose:

These reporters had nearly 2 decades of experience combined covering Texas. Today, they were pushed out, along with their editor who not only made their work sing, but helped so many reporters stumbling through the dark to see the light. Such a disservice to our readers.

Austin's Affordability Unlocked housing program is more effective at producing affordable housing than other city programs, per a new Urban Institute report

A group of Austin homeowners wants to block the program. A court hearing is set for Monday urban.org/sites/default/…

Spectacular series, and this last episode gives me hope that Austin's neighboring cities - including my hometown of Buda - can make development choices to change in ways that benefit old & new residents, and not just the Chamber of Commerce.
