Having champions discuss with the acting commissioner enables all to see Ministry of Health- Uganda commitment to reducing maternal deaths due to sepsis and the need for each us to advocate for simple things done well. 'Vital signs are vital!' a simple but important message to share.
As we hold our champions training, Adelline, who will be assessing the barriers and enablers of the APT-Sepsis study has been working with others to identify how best to use language to best communicate with study participants, empowering the communities we work with.
Mbale Champions develop their implementation plan to support improving outcomes for pregnant women in Mbale region & how together with Ministry of Health- Uganda & Infectious Diseases Institute, Makerere University we can reduce maternal mortality from sepsis. Looking forward seeing the changes in Mbale with the APT-Sepsis team

Great to be with the APT-Sepsis team supporting early identification & treatment of maternal sepsis. Working in a country where 17 women a day die giving birth & in the month afterwards, I'm always reminded how valuable a high quality health service, free at the point of use is.
