I'm struck by the coincidence of the important International Energy Agency report today saying basically it's over for gas and Shell's massive profits report. The argument that fossil producers need to keep their profits in order to invest is dangerous. We need to STOP them reinvesting profits.

Shell has made £26bn so far this year

We need this cash to come into the public purse via a Dirty Profits Tax (without Sunak loophole)

Yes, to fill the hole in public finances

But also to stop investors rushing back to climate-destroying fossil fuels
