An inadvertent hypocotyl experiment when I left some pots to hold the bird net off my recently sown winter canola cover crop. Those germinating under the pot grew up 10cm inside the black pot before reaching light nest the drainage holes of the upturned pot.

So, if N fertilizer increases soil organic matter in the long-term, does it have a similar effect on microbial biomass?
