And it’s out!! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Ever wonder what happens when patients stop responding to novel therapies? Here Chapuis Lab Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center we have been working to find out why. Our paper reveals a mechanism of immune escape in an unusual patient case.

I don’t see this discussed much, but this strong correlation makes me ask a lot of question about this pandemic.

This is the correlation between GDP per capita and confirmed COVID cases (per million people).

Confirmed cases, of course, are only a fraction of all cases.

I've been mulling over the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis modeling report on mitigation and suppression strategies since it was posted on March 16. Although mitigation through social distancing may not solve things I believe we can bring this epidemic under control. 1/19

Initial reporting likely overestimates mortality (2%) as mild cases underreported. 2009 flu pandemic with initial case fatality at 7% (WHO), but ended up being < 0.1%. Still need to take precautions, wash hands, get flu shot, and help curb spread!
