GDF-15 associated with CV outcomes beyond heart failure.

Next Qs:
1. Is GDF-15 clinically useful to stratify risk in stable CV patients?
2. Is there a role for GDF-15 as target?

Congratulations David Berg Erin Bohula Robert Giugliano Michelle O'Donoghue Stephen Wiviott TIMI Study Group and others.

Different Viewpoints, same conclusion:
This controversy can only be resolved with a trial comparing icosapent ethyl vs. a truly inert placebo.

Just published in JAMA Cardiology re: the REDUCE-IT trial controversy.

Should we pay people to be healthy?

I love behavioral strategies to improve health. Now there is more evidence suggests this works—as long as we (& the public) can tolerate it.

World Heart Federation Cholesterol Roadmap 2022

This covers fundamental principles, major problems and, importantly, *actionable* solutions.

Great discussion about implementation science. Here's what I learned:

EHR prompts can increase burnout and *harm* patients.

Information is insufficient; *actionable* information may help.

Patients can be primed before visits to help overcome clinical inertia (EPIC-HF trial).

To improve health by changing behavior, we need to reach people where they are.

Where are all cigarette consumers?

In this case, primary prevention ('Don't smoke!') may be less effective than secondary prevention ('Get screened!'). Good idea.
