What a fab first day we had B3! It was great spending the day together, catching up on our news from the holidays and finding our feet in our new classroom and new building. Plus getting to know our 2 new classmates! Same again tomorrow?

We recapped and practised our handwriting and did our first piece of writing in our new English books.

We took a trip to our library this afternoon and chose our first free reading book. We loved looking at all the new books we can choose from!

What do we look for when we are editing our writing? How about when we want to improve our work? Today we looked at the differences and practised these two skills with a partner.

Switching on our Maths brains after a long break - game of number bond bingo, some work with Dienes to check our place value and reminding ourselves of other ways to represent numbers

B3 have got our first outdoor learning session tomorrow (session 1 of 3). School uniform will be fine for the session but please send a spare/old pair of trainers or wellies in for your child to wear for the session in a named bag. Thank you!

Hola! Como estas? Today we started our first bit of Spanish learning. We looked at where Spanish is spoken around the world and then practised greeting our friends with some basic phrases 🇪🇸 👋🏻

We have loved using our new textbooks and workbooks in Maths. Counting up to 1000 has been our first block of learning

What can we infer from a story by looking at the text and the pictures. Getting to know the characters of our focus text ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Drew Daywalt

We had a great first outdoor learning session this week. We learnt about the different parts of a tress, what their functions are and then we tried to identify them on trees around our school grounds.

Vocabulary and definitions. We chose some words from our text and wrote our own definitions for them before having a look in the dictionary to see what the actual definitions are. Then we drew an emoji to match each word 😴😢🤗🥰

We used a thesaurus in our English lesson to find synonyms for some not so interesting vocabulary in our text. Next we will be using these new words to innovate and improve some sentences.

We started our outdoor learning today but recapping last weeks learning. We drew a tree then labelled it with the different parts before checking we had remembered the function of each one.

Today’s outdoor learning - what’s the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees? And how can you tell the difference just by looking at their leaves? We also learnt the names of the different varieties of tree that we have on our school grounds.

Deepening our understanding of place value (hundreds, tens and ones). Starting with a game - finding and matching different representations of the same number, then moving on to thinking about the value of each digit in a 3 digit number.
