I don’t often use the proud word but I am really proud of how amazing both member relations & LNC teams have been across the UK over the last 12 months. One big & seriously effective team. There’s more we can do & bring ever more gains for all. Organising & visibility is key!

Privileged to deliver the Chair’s update from BMA Consultants on behalf of Vishal Sharma to The BMA LNC Chairs Conference today. Proud of the progress that we have made to save the profession and the NHS, but much more to do!

That’s my vote cast BMA Consultants BMA Northern Ireland. Hope it will help to stop the exodus of colleagues. There seems to be a tsunami of colleagues taking jobs in Dublin. Who can blame them?

What's the cost when a consultant obstetrician with 19 years’ experience resigns early?

Staff shortages mean a new doctor must be trained, taking time. Locum cover will be needed, and time for the new recruit to find their feet, meaning lost productivity. bma.org.uk/attrition-costs

Consultants in England reach a pay deal for now, says Vishal Sharma, but there is still “some way to go before the pay that consultants have lost over the last 15 years has been restored. All eyes will be on this year’s pay review round.' The BMA

A huge thank you to every consultant that gave us a mandate and took action. You have achieved a great starting point towards pay restoration. All eyes on the DDRB now. Consultants will not accept pay erosion ever again. We expect to see our pay restored going forwards.
