Can you help Rebecca Cornwell Rebecca Cornwell? She's working with UHI Institute for Northern Studies MountainStudiesUHI & Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh to research how historical writings about Shetland's wild plants eg Shetland Mouse-ear ๐Ÿ‘‡ help shape our modern understanding of rare plant ecology & how this informs conservation.

Today at last Sorbus torminalis, and in a strip of old woodland shown on 1st OS map of 1834 so maybe truly wild Wild Service tree. In Bedfordshire tetrad TL14H which fits with my copy of John Dony's Beds Plant Atlas! Sadly not in flower yet. BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland

A few things from the arable fields near Cowfold, low weald clays. I don't see these things often, because I rarely walk in this sort of habitat. Moehringia trinervia, Three-nerved Sandwort; Cerastium glomeratum, Sticky Mouse-Ear; Alopecurus pratensis Meadow Foxtail BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland

A rather pretty white form of Herb-robert (Geranium robertianum) spotted on the street today made for a nice change from the norm.

Coming into flower (and last years fruits) of Wild Service Trees, Sorbus torminalis, around Cowfold in the Low Weald of Sussex. Sorbus torminalis is now confined to ancient woodlands and hedges, especially on heavy clay soils. Woodland Trust๐ŸŒณ BSBI: Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland Sussex Botanical Recording Society

Spring rolls on. First Celery-leaved Buttercup of the year, and the Cuckooflower is perhaps at it's peak just now, as are the Marsh Marigolds. At YWT Potteric Carr

Bluebells looking good.

Certainly at peak Dandelion on the roads round me, some areas are more yellow than green!

An audience and interesting array of garden escapes on today's trip to Killingworth. At least 3x Muscari to ogle later plus a new invader in Fringecups (Tellima grandiflora) ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐ŸŒฑ
