9/ Interestingly, during #entity encounters, brain entropy was reduced compared to generic DMT states. This suggests a more organized and less chaotic brain state during these specific moments of experience.

11/ The fruits of the experience include #sensual pleasure, aesthetic experiences, personal insights, emotional release, and feelings of #interconnectedness. These often emerged in the late infusion phase.

/8 Lastly, a critical finding across these two studies is related to psychedelic risks: The frequency of HPPD-type visual aftereffects at the 4-week endpoint was more than doubled in adolescents, with 50% (30 of N=60 who answered this question), reporting at least one symptom.

Had a fantastic time connecting and presenting my work with David B. Yaden, Brandon, and Michiel van Elk at #ICPR2024! Excited to improve our measurement & understanding of #psychedelics’ subjective effects. Huge thanks to OPEN Foundation for the chance to present at this amazing conference.

Nate Phillips Luiz Pessoa Josh Miller Donald Lynam Good cites in this thread re: brain structure. Studies on task-related activation also suggest null results - see Hyatt et al (2020) and Weiss et al (2021) Brandon in Personality Neuroscience. Lots of problems with this task methodology though (e.g., biorxiv.org/content/10.110…)

New article: Quantitative summary of adverse events in psychedelic studies. We find a favorable safety profile, but with major caveats. Serious adverse events were rare but did occur (esp. in those w/ disorders). We call for improvements to adverse event recording and reporting.
