Please RT: New PhD student position studying white-winged dove ecology in Texas with me and TPWD. Lots of banding and GPS-GSM tags + opportunities to do resource selection across an urban gradient, study disease, contaminants, harvest, and migration.

After the first two weeks post-hatch, turkey poults begin to behave like adults, including vocalizations. One of our field techs caught these poults calling while in the field. You can hear several vocalizations from the poults, including yelps, clucks and whines. 📷Kayli Newkirk

Join Hannah Sabatier and me this summer in Saskatchewan! We’ll be using drones to study duck pairs and broods, nest searching, and deploying transmitters on blue-winged teal. You’ll get valuable experience with different techniques in an important area for breeding ducks!

Our paper on diets of southeastern coyotes is out in PeerJ - the Journal of Life & Environment. We used stable-isotope analysis to differentiate diets of resident and transient coyotes and found several factors influencing what coyote eat. Give it a read!
