The earliest known reference to bonfire celebrations in Battle is in 1646 when St Mary`s Church allocated 2 Shillings and 6 pence in funds for gunpowder treason rejoicing.

Please note our road closure operates from 6pm until midnight along the following roads. Powdermill lane, High Street, Upper Lake, Lower Lake & Station Approach. There is strictly no parking along the procession route and cars left will be removed at the car owners expense.

If you plan to attend our event this Saturday please ensure you bring plenty of cash for two reasons: 1. There are no cash points in the town centre 2. You will want to donate some money to our charity collection as every penny collected is given away

Have you picked up a programme yet? They will be available on the day from the merchandise stall on the Abbey Green from 10am - 4pm
