Economic drains, socially divisive, politically regressive, generally unpopular…

Just how many more of these small boat crossings do we have to put up with?

Meet Hind Khoudary. Tonight she's a star reporter for Channel 4. She's also famous for having informed on Rami Aman & other Gaza peace activists, getting Hamas to arrest them for the crime of doing a zoom with Israeli peace activists. Shame on you Channel 4 Channel 4 Dispatches. 🧵🔽 /1

I'm quite enjoying the overlap between 'obviously private schools should go broke if they can't afford VAT on their fees' and 'obviously third rate universities should be allowed to print visas for an unlimited number of unskilled workers, they'd go broke if they couldn't'

It may seem odd but *three* different friends, all European, have cited this bottle lid to me in the past week as an example of European stagnation. “The greatest invention since the war” two said, sarcastically. It’s clearly got a bit of traction on the continent.

This is it, basically. National service acknowledges concerns about immigration and integration, pledging to get the young (many of them of immigrant origin) ‘in line’, but also tries to distract voters by suggesting there are more important things to worry about.

“Don’t worry though, guys, it’ll all be worth it when we finally own homes, have children ourselves and can settle down.”

Remembered that “not wanting to do national service” is grounds for asylum, hence the sudden large numbers of Eritreans in the UK

The only reason people would vote for compulsory national service for 18-year-olds would be if the UK was a country that hated young people.

*Sunak wins by landslide*
