3 hours left for #CalBigGive! Donate to support graduate students like Jefferson Ortega (Jefferson Ortega). His research aims to understand how humans process complex social information and how we can improve social inference in autistic individuals. Donate here givingday.berkeley.edu/giving-day/767…
Thrilled to share our latest paper published in PLOS Comp Biol! Our work challenges prevailing theories in motor learning. Through various sensorimotor experiments, the implicit system is NOT modulated by error consistency. journals.plos.org/ploscompbiol/a…
Cognitive science proposes plausible explanations of behavior. But did you know that some behavioral patterns logically imply that certain neural representations *must* exist? New paper w/ Randy Gallistel. Implications for neuroscience and machine learning onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ej…
Question: How does #aging impact #motor #learning? Answer: Aging enhances implicit learning, but reduces explicit motor learning. New bioRxiv: tinyurl.com/4nw3snwb Amazing work led by Elizabeth Cisneros! S. Karny, Ivry Laboratories UCBerkeley Psychology CMUPSYCH Carnegie Mellon Neuroscience Institute
Don’t believe that LLMs are good at solving math problems. New work led by Nasim Borazjanizadeh develops a set of simple problems that GPT fails miserably. However, interfacing an LLM with a reliable symbolic system (Prolog) raises performance near ceiling. arxiv.org/abs/2407.11373
.UC Berkeley's Dacher Keltner consulted on the neuroscience of emotions for Pixar's hit, Inside Out 2. "As long as you're not hurting people, I tend to think all emotions are good. The's the whole point of this film." bit.ly/4cyhXyy UCBerkeley Psychology Greater Good
A new study from UC Berkeley researchers show how our brains react emotionally to the real world: bit.ly/465Pmyx #BerkeleyResearch
.UCBerkeley Psychology Prof. Steve Piantadosi (steven t. piantadosi) + Carnegie Mellon University Prof. Jessica Cantlon (Jessica Cantlon) published research in Nature Reviews Psychology that argues human intelligence is distinct because of our ability to process + share large amounts of information. ls.berkeley.edu/news/uc-berkel…
Take a moment to appreciate the beauty and vastness of the sky. Dacher Keltner guides us through a practice of pausing to turn your gaze to the sky as a path to awe, creativity and wonder. Listen here: tinyurl.com/skypause PRX Penguin Random House 🐧🏠📚 Apple Podcasts UCBerkeley Psychology

Our paper on "Fundamental processes in sensorimotor learning: Reasoning, refinement, and retrieval" has been posted on eLife - the journal. elifesciences.org/articles/91839 I am thankful for our team/reviewers/editors for their feedback in refining our 3R framework. Let us know what you think!
Loving-kindness meditation, or 'metta,' has ancient roots in Buddhist traditions. Research shows it can boost capacity for love, life satisfaction, and enhance brain areas for empathy. Listen here: tinyurl.com/lovingkindpod John Templeton Foundation Penguin Random House 🐧🏠📚 UCBerkeley Psychology
I am thrilled to share that this year, I am reviewing applications for the Clinical Psychology PhD program at UCBerkeley Psychology! I will also be hiring a lab manager --lab website with more info coming soon! Please help spread the word!
