This week, Year 5 were exceptionally lucky to have a visit from Claire Bradshaw, a local Astronomer! It wasn’t just Claire they met though - they also met her amazing space telescope!  They were not only blown away by her amazing space facts but also her out of this world photo.

Year 1 had so much fun learning directions and the basics of programming using bee bots today! 🤗🤗

Today we held an antibullying assembly for #antibullyingweek to reinforce our message at The BA and #onetkatfamily that bullying will not be tolerated and pupils must #reachout to someone they trust. There is a competition for the best KS1 and KS2 anti bullying poster.

I have to tell you…the children who wrote these amazing pieces are only in year 1! Can you believe it? If you have one of them at home, ask them about little red riding hood as they can now talk about it, say it, read it and write it! We are so impressed!

KS2 Girls’ football team played amazingly well this week in a local tournament. They are looking forward to more wins in the new year! Well done 🙌🏼

This week, Year 5 had an art explosion! They have been experimenting this term with watercolours and the effect salt has on them which they used in designing their own plants. They then added a Jackson Pollock style background to complete their out of this world paintings!

Learning the name of the months of the year in order, singing about them, learning how to make a paper chain with one link for each month…what else do you need to be proud when you are in year 1!?!

In Year 5 this week, we were investigating how toys move and what components they are made up of. We looked at their chassis, wheels and axles and started to look at ideas on designing and making our own! We hope to show these off in the next few weeks.

Brrrrrr! It was a cold one at Round 3 of the Girls’ League Fixtures today! No goals scored unfortunately from Bewbush but many saved by our goalie Ruby Robinson!

We celebrated National Handwriting Day on Monday 23rd January. Have a look at some of the beautiful penmanship going on around the school!

Year 5 are making huge progress in designing and constructing their toys this week! After the initial designing, some have now moved on to attaching axis and wheels! Next week, we hope they will all be ready for a ‘race off’ when we look at how to power them 🤩

The EYFS cake sale, to support St Catherine’s Hospice, was a huge success 🙌🏼 Thank you for all your cakes and cookies and for all your donations. This Friday, it’s Year 1’s turn. Please bring all cakes and cookies in on Friday morning and help support this amazing cause.

On Friday, it was Year 1’s turn to do their bake sell for @stcatherinescrawley . They rolled up their sleeves and got baking but we couldn’t have done anything without all the parents donations and the Year 6 help. Thank you everyone and we hope you enjoyed the cakes 😉

The girls did amazingly well today in the Premier League Primary Stars U11 Girls Cup! Mrs Ford was incredibly proud of their resilience. 7 points and just 1 win away from qualifying 🙌🏼
