Where do the divisions among us come from? Perhaps a too worldly perspective which prioritizes power, wealth, and fame. We need to humble ourselves before the Lord and believe that he will exalt us.

From the cross Jesus entrusted us, his Body, the Church, to his mother, Mary. As Mother of the Church she has special concern for us. Let us turn to her most blessed among women.

Our call is to follow Jesus. We do so within and as members of the community of believers. That is the path to our individual eternal salvation while at the same time serving as the furtherance of the Kingdom of God.

Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Follow Me.” Jesus says to us, “Follow me.” How faithfully are we doing so?

Jesus prays that our Missionary Discipleship may bear good fruit by means of our faithful proclamation of the Gospel by word and example.

Jesus prays to the Father for us, that we might accept our consecration (being set apart from the world) in order to help bring the world to the holiness to which it is called.

The Lord has chosen us to be his Missionary Disciples. And our witness must be that of love. For we must keep his commandment: “love one another as I love you.”

We are not alone. Jesus has sent the Spirit to us in which we share in the life of the Father and the Son. In that we can find our peace.

Jesus tells us to ask for what we need. If we strive to follow him faithfully, what we truly need will be granted us. Because of our relationship with Jesus, we are in relationship with the Father.

God’s work and presence among us often goes unnoticed and certainly under appreciated. Our task is to acknowledge that work/presence, express gratitude for it, share it with others, and help them to discover God’s work and presence among them as well.

So often we hold on to experiences, things, and people. If we but release them and allow grace to fill the void they leave, we can discover the richness of the gift they have been and still are as part of the legacy of our spiritual journey.

Evangelizing is not about popularity. It is about Jesus, the Way, the Truth, and the Life. It can involve persecution. It can involve exhilaration. But promises eternal reward.

“Jesus said to Thomas, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” How does that saying of Jesus provide direction for me in living my life as one of his Missionary Disciples?

The path to true joy is paved with love, a love modeled on the eternal perfect bond of love between the Father and the Son which is the Spirit. May their Spirit instill in us such love for God, neighbor, and self.
