Poor Beni met his match when he encountered the King of Salat island, Petruk. After medical treatment, he was moved to a different island where he stays well away from the dominant male & has lots of female company! A lesson hard learned. #OrangutanJungleSchool #IslandUpdate

Ramangai was rescued in March 2021 when he was 6.5 mos old. He had scars on his left arm & right thigh, a fever & was too weak to move. His independence & confidence have since grown, and he is now confident enough to explore, play, and climb trees at #OrangutanJungleSchool

This is Petruk, who, despite his run in with Beni, is actually a gentle orangutan. Like every rainforest territory, each island has its dominant male, and others have to learn how to show him respect, but this cheeky macaque has no such concerns! #OrangutanJungleSchool

#IslandUpdate Aged two, Nita was surrendered by the family who had been illegally keeping her as a pet & she arrived at Nyaru Menteng in Nov 2008. Nita proved to be a star pupil at #OrangutanJungleSchool and is now living on a pre-release island where she's thriving!

In 2019, Greta arrived at Nyaru Menteng traumatised and weak. Like most other rescued baby orangutans, Greta was allegedly found alone. One of her arms appeared to have been broken in the past, but it healed well on its own. Now, she's thriving at #OrangutanJungleSchool
