* Lancashire moth recorders *
This is a call for records to be submitted ASAP. The deadline to be included in the Moths of Lancs book is the end of Nov. We would be grateful if records could be submitted prior to the deadline to reduce pressure on verifying late in the day.

Challenging mothing on the Cornish coast this weekend with strong winds & heavy rain. However, rewarded with two different Convolvulus Hawk-moths, Feathered Brindle & Cosmopolitan, plus Small Mottled Willow, Delicate etc.

The main highlight of a migrant-fest last night, during warm but breezy conditions was this super Etiella zinckenella. A moth i've seen in Turkey previously. To get one inland here in East Cambs has blown me away. It is the 2nd county record. Chippenham Fen, Cambs Migrant Lepidoptera

The other moth highlight was this Antigastra catalaunalis - a long awaited new species for the Observatory. A bit of a record shot but gives the idea.

The wild southerly winds have made birding difficult of late, but the mothing has been fantastic. This Slender Burnished Brass taken last night is the first for Skokholm and the second for Pembrokeshire following one in 1875! Migrant Lepidoptera

A remarkable day for Crimson Speckled with a final daytime total of 12 individuals found in the Obs area. Note we had 6 traps running last night but we didn’t catch any this way. Maybe they are not keen on coming to light. Will be interesting to see what happens tonight.

Amazing! Hazel took this Spoladea recurvalis, at light in Tintern, Gwent (VC35) last night (28/10). Also, a Scarce Bordered Straw (H. armigera).
