This term our Reception classes got to meet some more real-life heroes. 👩🏽‍⚕️👨🏽‍🚒 First, we were visited by three nurses who work in the A&E department. Next, they were visited by a member of the East Sussex fire service who works on the quick response team.

Last month Year 5 travelled to Portsmouth to visit the The Mary Rose . They participated in an artefact handling workshop, to explore the materials and their properties. Thank you to all helpers that attended the trip and the team The Mary Rose for an enjoyable trip.

Last week Year One celebrated 100 school days in Year One. The children went on a hunt to find the 100 balloons hidden in their classrooms. Throughout the day they took part in a range of maths activities all linked to the number 100, including a PE challenge & classroom disco.

This term our reception classes braved the wet weather for a local walk to Shoreham Library. During their visit the children learnt how the library works and explored the children's section to enjoy a book themselves. Thank you to the team at Shoreham Library for a special visit.

This term, as part of a geography, Reception are investigating 'What is a cloud?' during their welly walks. They begun their investigation by discussing what they know about clouds and then headed outside to observe what types of clouds they could see.

Year 1 have been learning about Andy Goldsworthy as part of our art unit this term. Last week, they went outside to create their own Andy Goldworthy inspired sculptures, using natural materials they could find in the environment. They worked together to create their designs.

Year 2 began the term with a visit to Wakehurst as part of their science focus on habitats, plants and insects. Throughout the day the children took part in a variety of activities, including a mini beast hunt, a five sense spring walk and art using natural objects.

Today we were visited by one of our favourite authors, Sophy Henn, in celebration of her new graphic novel serie. The children enjoyed listening to Sophy's creative process, a character draw-along and panto-style interactions. Thank you to Sophy and Steyning Bookshop 📖

Last term our reception classes spent a sunny day at Washbrooks Farm 🚜 The enjoyed a farm animal talk, animal handling, a tractor ride and free play session. Thank you to the parents and the team at Washbrooks for making the day so much fun. 🐖
