For comp in higher-ed, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education, former Univ of Pennsylvania president Amy Gutmann received $22.8 million in 2021, including $20.2M in deferred comp built over 18 yrs. That was highest payout since 2008, when The Chronicle of Higher Education began collecting private-school executive pay

This amount does not include additional amount that Miami would have had to pay in connection with the 21% federal excise tax imposed on compensation above $1 million that goes to any of a private non-profit universities' five highest-paid employees in a year.

Per Joey Kaufman, in 2024 season, Ohio State will have six football assistant coaches making at least $1 million, including five making at least $1.4 million.

Total payroll for 10 assistants for 2024 season per Joey Kaufman is $11.425 million, including $2.2 million for DC Jim Knowles and $2 million for OC Chip Kelly.

Regarding 75% buyout if Calipari is fired w/o cause: While it is subject to offset if Calipari has subsequent 'athletics-related' income, 'Coach shall not have an affirmative duty to mitigate'

To clarify this: The contract says Calipari will be able to get no more than two of automatic 1-year extensions, and he will be able to add a total of no more than $1.25 million in automatic pay increases.

Calipari had been scheduled to make $8.5 million from Kentucky in 2024-25, then go to $9 million annually for the last four years.

John Calipari's contract with Arkansas starts as 5-year deal with $7.5 million annual pay, including $500K annual retention payment.
