Great news that Ofgem has extended rules that ensure fairer access to energy deals for all consumers, including 2.3 million households who can’t switch supplier due to debt. A market of unsustainable deals won’t deliver the higher standards and low carbon innovation we need.

❄️ During the Big Freeze of 1963-64 we supported hundreds of people as they struggled to heat their homes. 🌡️ We worked alongside coal merchants, plumbers and other organisations to help those affected and provided additional assistance to those experiencing financial hardship.

With energy bills set to rise by £150, new @citizensadvice research finds that one in four people are so concerned about the rising price of energy this winter that they could be forced to turn their heating or hot water off. A thread👇

A 10% rise in energy bills comes at the worst time for millions of families who are still struggling. 1 in 4 people told us these costs could mean they’d have to turn off their heating or hot water. The govt must tackle this challenge and support those who need it most

Dame Clare Moriarty, chief exec of Citizens Advice for England and Wales, tells #R4Today that the government needs to 'recognise the need for targeted support' for people struggling with energy bills, ahead of a meeting with the energy minister and industry leaders later today.
