Q&A time. First question, is there mileage in offering the very rich a 5% discount on tax if 3% goes to charity. Gus notes the US do it but it’s not as big an incentive as you think. Giving is more multi layered. Tax is part but not the main driver.

Also looking at Place Based giving both time and money. The poorest areas understandably perform well so one suggestion is match funding place based giving and think about getting people who have done well but left a place to come back and put something back

Gus also suggests we need to look at gift aid having started it with John Major. A quarter of gift aid is unclaimed amounting to around £340m ‘lost’ a year.
