I love interdisciplinary science, but I also know it's hard; I'm part of a Schmidt Science Fellows group looking to address some barriers to it, and we need your help - collaborate with us by filling out this super short survey on your experiences! forms.gle/EFBp9oT2C3RYUk…
It’s finally official! I’m beyond excited to join the MechSE Illinois department at UIUC as an assistant professor in January. I couldn’t ask for a better fit, personally or professionally, and I cannot thank all those who’ve supported me enough!
We embrace failure as part of the scientific process - what is important is how we respond to our failures. Xiangkun Elvis Cao and Dr. Gladys Ngetich 🇰🇪 reflect on this concept and their 'CVs of failure' in @NatureRevChem - The Need to Normalize Failure - nature.com/articles/s4157…
Congratulations to Catalina Bastias on another runner up win in the SB3C Student Paper Competition! I’m so excited to welcome you to UIUC this fall and to continue working together!
What’re the odds of two Schmidt Science Fellows attending the same non-Schmidt conference? Loved catching up with Hannah Zlotnick at #SB3C.
Congratulations, Catalina Bastias! We are thrilled to have you join MechSE Illinois and the IBB lab. mechse.illinois.edu/news/56633

I’m so thankful the world has people like Xiangkun Elvis Cao in it!
Times Higher Education and Schmidt Science Fellows have partnered to develop a new Interdisciplinary Science Ranking that recognizes and celebrates interdisciplinary science in higher education worldwide. Learn more about our plans from Times Higher Education.
The senior Schmidt Science Fellows conference in Chicago was absolutely extraordinary. Getting to learn from this group of brilliant, kind, and creative scientists from all over the world and across all disciplines is a privilege I will never take for granted.
Huge thanks to the organizers SB3C Organizers for putting together the best #SB3C yet! Congratulations Catalina Bastias on your big win in the MS student paper competition! I’m so proud of our USL work with Sarah Calve and Dr. Virginia Ferguson and excited about our next project with Matthew Dean.
The Schmidt Science Fellows Interdisciplinary Science Summit in Toronto was just what I needed: a reminder that the world’s biggest problems are not solved by one person or one discipline. Forever grateful to have the support of this community of incredible scientists.
