Thank you for having me National Cannabis Festival! As I said today: This is the 10-year anniversary of DC voters approving legalization of #Cannabis at the ballot, but congress continues to block the will of the people. The fight for representation & statehood must continue! #51stState
Proud to have secured funding for this #PublicRestroom with Friends of Oxon Run & I want to see more! Would love to see this implemented for other locations, as was recommended by a working group a few years ago WashingtonPFFC.
Today is #EmancipationDay , commemorating Pres. Lincoln's signage of the bill that ended slavery in the District in 1862, freeing 3,100 enslaved people. As we celebrate this history, the fight continues to counter the legacy of slavery in DC with economic opportunity & justice.
It was an honor to open National Medical Association's colloquium today & share my perspective on the pivotal role of local policy in shaping health outcomes within communities of color. Thank you NMA for your tireless work to confront inequities & improve outcomes for African Americans.
