This morning we had our closing keynote. Addressing the future of Climate Modeling and Integration with VESRI projects. Lead by moderator Dr. Peter Cox, we heard from panelists Dr. Emily Shuckburgh, Dr. Tapio Schneider, Dr. Laure Zanna and Dr. Colin Prentice.

The two sessions running in parallel after lunch today were OpenMP for GPUs, lead by Chris Edsall and Arjen Tamerus and Research Software Engineering with python from Jack Atkinson and Marion Weinzierl 🧑‍🔬👩‍💻👨‍🏫 We’re recording all these sessions too so they’ll be available soon!!

Increasing temperatures cause the humidity of the air to also increase. As the air contains more water, when it rains, it rains more. This 'causal chain' is clearly observed in changes to UK climate, leading to more intense rainfall, increasing the risk of local flooding.
