On April 10, the Canadian Army HQ welcomed LTG Christopher Donahue, Commanding General, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Liberty, for a talk on leadership, training and readiness philosophies, and lessons from the war in Ukraine.

Spring is in the air!

Soldiers from 33 CBG, 32 CBG / 32e GBC and 31 CBG / 31 GBC participated in urban operations training at 4 CDSB Petawawa to put their urban warfare skills to the test.

The EU Multinational Special Training Command has prepared more than 12,000 Ukrainian recruits for combat to date. LGen Andreas Marlow and BGen Martin Bonn recently invited me to see some of this important work. Thanks for supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia.

Vimy Ridge was a defining moment for our country and our military. We will remember the sacrifices made during this battle and will honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

On this day in 1917, Canadians were in the first wave of the attack on Vimy Ridge. They went ‘over the top’ and into enemy fire to secure a costly but important victory. #CanadaRemembers their sacrifices.

'They shall not grow old as we are left to grow old'

Today we remember the soldiers of the Canadian Corps who stormed Vimy Ridge; a fortification seemingly invulnerable to preceding assaults by allied forces.

We will remember them.

Troops from the Royal Canadian Dragoons currently deployed to Op REASSURANCE in Latvia hit the range last week for some live fire training with high explosive ammo.

Thanks to my colleagues in Latvia for joining me in an important discussion on #OpREASSURANCE and our role in the #NATO Forward Land Forces Brigade. We have good people and the equipment to ensure it will be combat-ready.

The celebration of Scottish heritage and tradition has deep roots in the Canadian Army, with 18 Highland units and 8 Pipes and Drums Bands that wear their distinct tartan that is a part of their regimental identity.
