From today, the National Anti-Corruption Commission officially gets to work.

The National Anti-Scam Centre will have three functions. 1. Disrupt scammers. 2. Raise consumer awareness. 3. Link scam victims to services.

I am not going to share it, but the advertisement in Financial Review that has garnered so much deserved criticism is simply appalling and has no place in modern Australia. The terrible racist tropes aren’t worthy contributions to any debate and should be condemned.

There is also a lot in this report about HECS- HELP. There has been a bit in the news recently about indexation. The Accord team are looking at that and the way the whole HELP system works.

This report makes it pretty clear that the most recent changes haven’t worked, and that funding system “needs to be redesigned”. Between now and the final report they will work on how we fix this and other changes that might need to be made.
