Our resident African Grey rescue parrot Paulie was enjoying his nartjie slices this morning. The term “naartjie” is the name we in South Africa give a satsuma/mandarin fruit.

Musina has been given some of Esmé’s dung to roll around in. This is something leopards and other predators will do in the wild to mask their scent, allowing them to get closer to their prey.

It appears that Peter and Bula aren’t always sound asleep during the night. Here the Africam cameras caught the two of them enjoying a bit of play-fighting while the others were asleep.

Gumpy is hanging around the perimeter of his enclosure so that he can get a better look at two other Southern Ground Hornbills who have been spotted at HESC lately. We suspect they are females.
