The sun is out in Edinburgh for our AiT & F5 Conference! ☀️ So far the day has been full of inspiring stories, brilliant speakers, and really engaging contributions from attendees across the country and stages of GP training and early career.✋

I’m currently reviewing the Darzi report (I have some comments and questions to share later!) but one thing the report is very clear on: Changing the healthcare model (universal, tax based) would be idiotic “We cannot afford not to have an NHS” Insurance model is too costly!

David Oliver (@mancunianmedic) 's Twitter Profile Photo

same people who complain about the NHS being a bottomless/ unproductive pit, also slag off GP partnerships - only c 8% of total NHS budget and c £150 per list patient per annum, 330 million consults a year (rising yearly) and fewer GPs now than 10 years ago productivity up++

This needs to happen. Youth development in Scotland needs revamped. Give 16/17-year-olds first-team experience & watch them grow. Then watch the national team thrive as a result. Croatia are experts at it, which is why they reach World Cup semis & finals. dailymail.co.uk/sport/scottish…

Medical model vs Medical degree & post-graduate training There is a reason it takes a minimum of 10 years to become a GP, and that is just the start of being a GP caring for patients The first 2yrs👇🏼on which the rest is built

Chris Medland Healthcare emergencies can be turned around extraordinarily quickly if the funding taps are turned on. That, in turn, would benefit our entire society and the economy.
