City of London Choir St Giles Cripplegate Rachel Nicholls BBC Singers Sam Evans Music We must make so much fuss that the BBC has to retreat. We had the same battle in the 1980s; there were - in the end - serious concessions. Sadly the trend is relentlessly downwards: in the ACE, in the BBC and in Government. We simply have to keep fighting on until wisdom returns.

Tonight I’m watching my City of London Choir perform Verdi’s Requiem at the Barbican Centre.

I auditioned for and first sang with these amazing musicians at the Barbican in 2008 but have NEVER been in the audience all these years.

Couldn’t be prouder. Good luck, everyone! 🍿 ❤️🎵

Singing one’s socks off with about 99 other people on a Monday evening in February is an excellent way to blow the cobwebs away. The audience at Barbican Centre won’t know what’s hit them on 14th March. City of London Choir Hilary Davan Wetton Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

My latest recording of Vaughan Williams with Royal Philharmonic Orchestra City of London Choir for Resonus Classics was reviewed by Terry Blain BBC Music Magazine: 'dramatic juxtapositions of Lisztian piano cadenzas...are stirringly captured, where Bebbington is the fiery soloist.' tinyurl.com/bdzj5cns

We're very much enjoying reacquainting ourselves with Verdi's powerful, moving Requiem. 122 years today since his death.

This is going to be a corker. Verdi Requiem with a top line-up of classy professional musicians. What's not to like? I can even provide a special price...14th March at The Barbican. City of London Choir Hilary Davan Wetton Royal Philharmonic Orchestra barbican.org.uk/whats-on/2023/…

Excited to be starting a new term of rehearsals this evening! We were originally meant to be performing the Verdi Requiem in 2020, before Covid intervened. Brilliant to be returning to this fantastic work in preparation for our concert on 14 March.
