We spend 50% more hours in school than Finland. And they get 15 mins of recess every hour. They have NO standardized tests except for PISA in HS and they outperform us every time. If we can’t give students more movement, recess, and play time then we don’t understand education.

While on the topic, Physical Education is not recess or free time. It is an academic subject, just like music, band, Arts, etc. And for some, these are the most important subjects.

The Arts, PE, etc. as well as recess and play aren’t just important for students to grow emotionally, socially, & academically, but they may be the main reason that some students enjoy coming to school. Lets give them every reason to enjoy school, not take them away.
