This will be hugely complicated for people who have appointees, or more broadly lack capacity re their P&A and receive PIP.

Where do people tend to stay when doing cases in Swansea?

I'll likely drive, so a car park would be helpful.

A much love doll, Olive, has just been lost on a train either at Doncaster or on the London North Eastern Railway train from Doncaster to London. I have a devastated little girl and I’ve seen these sorts of posts work before.

“We are seeing increasing prevalence of mental health in society.”

I’m not entirely sure what this is supposed to mean.

We all have mental health. Some people are mentally ill, some people have issues in respect of their mental health.

If you are involved with the Mental Capacity Act you need to understand that your assessment could end up before the Court of Protection.

Likewise, any of us could find ourselves having a decision made for us by the court.

Observing the CoP is invaluable for your understanding.

Am excited to be going back to Oxford to deliver this presentation.

This is an extended version of what I delivered at and is designed for a domestic audience who want to think about “hunger strikes”, , mental capacity and everything inbetween.

The decision of Cusworth J in Y NHS Foundation Trust and (1) AN, (2) BN [2024] EWHC 805 (Fam) has been published.

This is an unusual case, an out of hours application in respect of cancer treatment for a 16 year old.

'If you're under 25 your brain isn't fully developed, so you can't be trusted to make informed decisions'

I'm seeing this a LOT lately, especially today. And it's utter guff, based on hearsay, misunderstandings of neuroscience, or wilful ignorance.

Why? I'll tell you why

This is a great question which has troubled a number of Court of Protection cases.

There's no short answer (despite what some of the responses imply!)

I have just seen something called the “College of Counsel” being promoted on LinkedIn? Apparently it’s being led by barristers and academics - any ideas anyone?

I am increasingly of the view that we need to regulate consultants.

I am inundated with adverts, especially on LinkedIn, and some of the organisations / companies are selling services which make me feel uncomfortable.
