West of England Combined Authority LCWIP I suspect will be rejected by Department for Transport. It really is embarrassing. I'd refuse to pay the consultants that put it together.

The news that both Oslo and Helsinki could report zero deaths regarding cycling and walking in their cities in 2019 were cause for questions to the Utrecht executive council member for traffic: "Why don't we have what they have?"

We have a plan, it’s costed, it’s integrated, it’s the best transport spend for the money. It’s good for NHS, it’s good for the Climate and reduces pollution. Now with the government, to say if they’ll back us to do it. I can’t think of one plausible reason you wouldn’t.

To paraphrase Paschal Donohoe "We only have a certain amount of space." When you prioritise more space for car-parking & roads for driving in urban areas, there's less space for safe cycling, reliable bus services, pleasant parks, key amenities, workplaces and vital housing.

This could be be good to discuss at the CycleBath meeting on Thursday at the The Guild Hub Bath 7:30pm onwards.
