I am honered,as the DG of Ministry of Interior &LG-SWSS to witness a signing ceremony to kick off the Decentralization Program hosted by Baidoa local gvt authority.The MOU was signed by #SWS service delivery stakeholders from the ministries of Edu, Interior,Baidoa Local Gvt,& Finance.UNICEF Somalia.

History! The handwriting, the feature of the layout is strikingly amazing. The book consists of 7 volumes, each containing 4 Juz & few chapters. It served as reference for standardisation of the Holy Qur'an for more than 3 centuries in the rural areas, Southwest, Somalia & 1/2

The author is Sheikh Mursal Sheikh Abdi Isak Subow, a family lineage of religious scholars. The protection cover is pure leather. Three generations preserved the Book by reading it everyday so that it doesn't gather dust. Sheikh Mursal,the author bequeathed the handwritten 2/3

Holy Book to his son, Sheik Abdi. Sheikh Abdi too, did the same in his will & the practice continues to date! Now, the Book is in the hands of Mustaf ataf & his mother,Asha Noor Janaay. Mustaf is the 3rd grand son of the author 3/3

In her 70s, mama Asha reads all the volumes each week. That means she finishes the Qur'an every week. But the interesting tale of the Book tells me that Islamic scholarship in Somalia, is very much understudied. In future though, the Book must archived as a National Asset!
