Portretten van Oekraïense studenten die hun diploma nooit zullen krijgen. Zij sneuvelden in de oorlog. Met de burgemeester van Den Haag en ambassadeur van Oekraïne Oleksandr Karasevych opende ik de indrukwekkende tentoonstelling Unissued Diploma’s. 🇺🇦 verdient onze onophoudelijke steun.

Europa moet de zeilen bijzetten om vrede en vrijheid te beschermen. Met deze boodschap was ik afgelopen dagen op reis. We moeten de munitie-productie opschalen, onze afschrikking verhogen en innoveren. Zo houden we Europa veilig.

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and I discussed our continued military support to Ukraine and the importance of European solidarity. The Dutch F-35s that will be based in Estonia to protect the Baltic airspace are a good example. Unity is our strongest weapon.

Met de Estse premier Kaja Kallas sprak ik over onze voortdurende militaire steun aan Oekraïne en het belang van Europese solidariteit. Onze F-35’s die vanuit Estland het Baltische luchtruim gaan beveiligen, zijn hier een goed voorbeeld van. Eenheid is ons sterkste wapen.

Estonia faces increasing hybrid threats. Russias posture in this area has become more aggressive. Hanno Pevkur and I discussed how to counter this. We affirmed our strong support to Ukraine. The Dutch deployment of F-35s in Estonia from the end of 2024 was welcomed by the minister.

Estland ervaart met de dag meer hybride dreigingen. Rusland wordt op dit gebied steeds agressiever. Met collega Hanno Pevkur sprak ik over het belang van gezamenlijke actie hiertegen, maar ook over onze steun aan Oekraïne en de inzet van Nederlandse F-35’s in Estland vanaf eind 2024.

Ukraine shows us that innovation is vital. Especially regarding drones and anti-drone technology.

The Lithuanian company NT Service takes lessons learned from the front directly into their counter-drone systems. A meaningful cooperation between industry and the armed forces.

Innovatie is van levensbelang, dat zien we in Oekraïne. Drones en anti-drone-technologie maken daar het verschil.

Het Litouwse bedrijf NT Service verwerkt lessen uit Oekraïne direct in hun counter-drone systemen. Betekenisvolle samenwerking tussen industrie en krijgsmacht.

Op troepenbezoek bij onze militairen in Rukla. Hier vertelde ik hen dat Nederland de bijdrage aan NATO eFP Battle Group Lithuania verlengt. Hiermee geeft Nederland een belangrijk signaal af aan onze bondgenoten én aan Rusland. Ik dank onze militairen voor hun inzet. Samen houden we Europa veilig.

The Netherlands remains committed to the security in Lithuania. With my counterpart Laurynas Kasčiūnas, I discussed our prolonged NATO eFP Battle Group Lithuania contribution, the upcoming exercise with a Dutch patriot unit in Lithuania, and the Baltic Air Policing of our F-35’s.

The Netherlands is sending F-35s to Estonia to keep NATO airspace over the Baltics secure. From Dec '24 to Mar '25, the Koninklijke Luchtmacht will patrol Baltic airspace. The Netherlands is strongly committed to the security of NATO's eastern flank, both on land and in the air.

The European defence industry is essential to strengthening our armed forces and sustaining our support to Ukraine. At munitions company @NAMMO in Norway, I spoke about the economies of scale, innovation and EU support that are all sorely needed to meet increased demand.

De Europese defensie-industrie is hard nodig om onze krijgsmacht te versterken en de steun aan Oekraïne voort te zetten. Bij munitiebedrijf @NAMMO in Noorwegen sprak ik over schaalvergroting, innovatie en de steun van de EU om aan de toegenomen vraag te kunnen voldoen.
