There is a common belief that commentary papers don't get cited + aren't worth writing. But the data says otherwise! Commentaries published in Association for Psychological Science tend to attract 25% as many citations as their target article. Some are cited even more than the original!

I have the feeling that comments on preprints are very rare but are there any data on this? Any references are welcome.
