Thank you to the inspiring speakers and our engaged audience for being a part of our first-ever International Symposium on Destination Stewardship.

The final theme of #ISDS23 is “Connecting to Community.” We highlighted the role communities play in shaping and sustaining successful destinations, and explored the agency that communities should have in the guest and host relationship.

Thank you Destination Canada for inviting me to this innovative symposium! This is my first time presenting in a beautiful garden on stage, in a gorgeous theater, inside a magnificent national museum, without slides.

What an extraordinary experience!

The third theme of #ISDS23 is “Connecting with Economics,” where we explored the interconnectedness between a regenerative approach, profitability, social returns on investment and overall prosperity.

The second key topic of #ISDS23 is “Connecting to Nature.”

Our speakers emphasized the importance of recognizing the significance of nature on our destinations and the role of tourism in climate action.

“Connecting People with People” is the first key topic of #ISDS23 .

By bringing people from different industries together to learn and connect, we fostered understanding of our joint influence on tourism.

The #ISDS23 Journey opened with a fireside chat between bestselling writer Pico Iyer, and DC’s Senior VP Gracen Chungath.

Pico delved into his lifetime explorations and shared how we can find peace in travel as we seek our own paradise.

#ISDS23 takes place on the unceded traditional territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation. We respect, honour and acknowledge the Algonquin Nation’s stewardship of this land, from time immemorial and into the future.
