I'm trying to not go all 'actually ...' when one of my friends defends his reluctance to use common modern technologies (such as smartphones) by saying something that just shows his ignorance of modern technology. BUT IT'S SO HARD.

I think mine is that happy endings are often dissatisfying. I've seen a rule of getting published is you MUST have a happy ending, but some of my favourite stories actually end kinda dark. Not happy endings are the ones that make you continue to think about the story.
