The Mancini & ultralounge BBC Proms wasn’t just a great night out - it made such a strong case for the colour & complexity of music that you hear most often as ironic wallpaper. On BBC Sounds now and BBC Four & BBC iPlayer on Friday. To be consumed with a premixed fruit cocktail.

It’s been a joy and such an emotional ride being a part of this smash hit show Open Air Theatre. An experience I’ll never forget. Four more weeks of performances and almost sold out. Get in there quick if you want to see it!

People say classical music is elitist. But right now THE LARGEST CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD costs as little as £8 to see the world's GREATEST headline acts. And oasis want between £74 and £506. Not very demure. Not very mindful. And quite elitist if you ask me.

The feeling is mutual! Great questions and very enjoyable discussion on scholarly ethics and the the problems and pleasures of working with primary sources.

I could listen to Angela’s stories forever. As the lights went up at the end of the screening she produced a load more about the cat that nuzzles Harry Lime’s shoes. Very hard work as it turned out to be immune to the pleasures of fish paste.

This is a film and personal appearance by convicted fraudster Andrew Wakefield peddling the lie that vaccines cause autism. Perhaps @GBNews could invite National Autistic Society to explain to its viewers and presenters why this is false.

On an ambitious series of location visits around East Anglia this week. Today, I finally managed to visit Cliff House seen in Jonathan Miller's M.R. James adaptation Whistle and I'll Come to You (1968). "There are more things in philosophy than are dreamt of in Heaven and Earth."
