New national report exposes that the group Seattle City Council President Sara Nelson has elevated as “voice of workers” in effort to gut gig worker minimum wage is nothing but a front group run by Uber & DoorDash lobbyists.

Nationwide, Uber, Lyft, and delivery companies are buying, bullying, bamboozling our elected leaders into sitting by while they exploit workers. This PowerSwitch Action and National Employment Law Project report uncovers their devious corporate playbook. linkprotect.cudasvc.com/url?a=https%3a…

This guy gets it. "When you factor in their actual costs ... food delivery is not making drivers wealthy. And I’d argue they’re not getting more than they deserve. No one is getting rich here … Except for UberEats and DoorDash." KIRO Nights Working Washington mynorthwest.com/3958968/butler…

⚠️ This is your regularly programmed reminder that, in a matter of days, under Council President Sara Nelson's leadership, Seattle is poised to become the first city in the country to dramatically cut down gig workers' pay & to gut our 4-month-old right to minimum wage. ⚠️

Seattle is the home of the Fight For $15. We *raise* wages here, because we know that when workers do well, we all do well. So why's a drastic pay cut for gig workers on the Seattle City Council's agenda today?

Drivers Union (@driversunionwa) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Drivers around the world are fed up with working conditions that would shock the public if they were more widely known. Drivers can lose their job for anything or nothing at all, often without an explanation why. Chicago drivers deserve the same protections that WA drivers won!

Great analysis by Sergio A. and Chris Harry Campbell 🇺🇸 on @TheRideshareGuy SMTMC podcast on why UBER/LYFT pay floor should be PER-TRIP, like Drivers Union won in Seattle & WA. w/o per-trip guarantee, Uber & Lyft can exploit a huge “FAKE BONUS LOOPHOLE”

Joshua Welter (@joshuawelter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

How does the FAKE BONUS LOOPHOLE work? Uber/Lyft pay drivers less than per-mile/per-min pay standard. Then they offer driver a “bonus” to entice work when driver otherwise wouldn’t. In reality, the fake “bonus” is already owed to the driver for previous underpayment.

Drive Forward - funded & run by Uber, with a board exclusively made up of Uber execs - today ran a The Seattle Times op-ed using their corporate employer's talking points, calling on city council to gut the gig worker minimum pay law. Why? Because Drive Forward is Uber.

It's simple. When an Uber funded group claims to speak for drivers and tells us that what drivers really want is lower pay, they're lying. Here's a slice of the truth: seattletimes.com/opinion/im-a-d…

All around the world, we see the same playbook; as drivers assert their rights, Uber obfuscates and attempts to undercut the basic protections all workers deserve. theguardian.com/technology/art…
