A poignant tribute at the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.

Held in front of the newly-replaced Melville Monument plaque acknowledging Henry Dundas’ role in deferring the abolition of the slave trade.

We’re delighted to see that a replacement plaque has been installed on the Melville Monument.

This plaque is an important example of how we can retain, but reinterpret, monuments to controversial figures.

Inclusive heritage must remember both the powerful and the powerless.
