Chinese who left Tibet by car were wealthy ones -most migrant workers probably went by bus or train. This video apparently shows Chinese migrant workers who made it from Lhasa to Chengdu but are stranded in Chengdu today -their hometowns/villages are refusing to accept them back.

Whoah... Zhengzhou gov't just downplayed COVID

'Coronavirus is nothing to be afraid of, it's preventable and curable'

To my knowledge, nothing like this has *ever* been said by the Chinese govt

What got them to break the Party line? Maybe that Apple is 60% of Henan exports

Given the current state of China's health care system, there are justifications for zero covid worth considering.

There are no justifications for locking people in a factory to make iPhones.

Thinking of ZZ Fxn workers all the time. Had the privilege working there & it's the most powerful example in my theory class. Students found the working/living condition, suicides & management best way to understand Marx/Durkheim/Weber. And now this--beyond any soc imagination.

China grew spectacularly because of massive government-led investment in much needed infrastructure, suppressed wages and workers' rights, and severely repressed financing costs. It is not at all surprising that under those conditions the private sector thrived.

Its almost as if the rise of far-right fascist politics in the United States, the concentration of power in non-elected individuals, and the PRC's interests are perhaps connected ๐Ÿง

Biden is visiting Syracuse for the Micron deal and it's giving me reverse-Trump & FoxConn deal flashbacks. Depressing
