When the world feels too dark, read a children's book.
When you need to feel hope, read a children's book.
When you need to believe in magic, read a children's book. Children's lit is a balm to those worn out & in need of wonder. Never dismiss these books as 'just for children.'

Life is a paradox of being unpredictable & unbelievably precious, a mix of sorrow & song, healing & heartbreak.
Its beauty is found in its brevity. This can either open one up to the vulnerability of loving it all, or closing oneself up like a tight fist. I choose to love.

'Remain true to yourself but move ever upward toward greater consciousness & greater love! At the summit you will find yourselves united with all those who have made the same ascent. For everything that rises must converge.'

Reading was my escape and my comfort, my consolation, my stimulant of choice: reading for the pure pleasure of it, for the beautiful stillness that surrounds you when you hear an author's words reverberating in your head.
- Paul Auster
Saddened to hear of his passing.

While outside, putting up my hummingbird feeders with fresh sugar water, I spotted a Black-capped chickadee, a Blue Bird, a male House Finch, some Robins, and a Brown Thrasher.

Why hello little bluebird. Thoreau once said, 'A man's interest in a single bluebird is worth more than a complete but dry list of the fauna and flora of a town.'
