Started off my Sunday morning with coffee & a good book until I realized that Napoleon the gila monster is venomous! Ahhh! He also can eat a third of its body weight in one meal! Thankfully, he already ate his breakfast of mice & hard-boiled eggs, but I don’t think I’ll stay long

Ouuuuchhh! It was a rough Monday morning to say the least— Today I met the white-throated woodrats, otherwise known as "packrats”. As much as I thought a terrifying Jaguar would cause me an injury, it was these little guys...

Given the severity of my leg injury, I checked right in to the vet clinic. It is remarkable what a little anesthesia, fluff, stitches, bandages, & medicine can do & of course the magnificent vet team! With a little rest and holiday magic, I’ll be back to normal in no time✨

Goat morning! Today, I adventured into the contact yard with the kids! I met 6 goats - Minnow, Marlin, Teddy, Attenborough, Darwin & Irwin. These guys have quite the rowdy personality, especially when food is involved. I learned how to win them over with a few scratches.🐐

Today I met greater rheas...not ostriches! Although they are smaller than ostriches, being a 14 in tall next to a 5ft bird still makes them seem large! I offered up lettuce to Beaker and Bunsen, but these big flightless birds were a bit skeptical of my elf getup!

With the cold temperatures, I decided to visit Slash the red panda in his toasty indoor exhibit. Speaking of toast, we had some “cookies” this morning or as the keepers call them Mazuri leaf water biscuits, but I think they look like cookies…mmmh delicious!🍪 -Elfwood
