I didn’t know until Maya started playing me his early stuff that Grant Nelson made hardcore, which makes perfect sense cause his tracks are often arranged into distinct sections w different moods & lead instruments, in contrast to much of the US garage he was inspired by.

Curious how many of us have had strong realizations on psychedelics about how we treat animals and have changed behaviors as a result. It doesn’t seem uncommon as the substance seems to challenge false hierarchies and open the heart to some degree in certain individuals.

My BF in ‘94 james loved Safety Dance. They interpreted the lyric to be about “going it alone” & psychedelic abandonment through raving, which was funny since it was an 80s pop tune. “U can dance if you want to, u can leave your friends behind.” Substack soon on ‘going it alone’

Some of my favorite records I don’t play often because I have a specific memory attached to it. Somewhere deep down know it will never be as good or meaningful as that special time. ‘That Piano Anthem’ by Two Amigos is like that cause of the peak it caused at Motherbeat 1.
