With the BBC reporting the rise of larger dairy herds this morning in a ‘gotcha’ piece, it’s worth noting that the real story is the collapse of UK dairy farms due to unsustainable returns since the 90s. Those left get bigger in an effort to survive an unfair marketplace.

…with supermarket price wars forcing ever more dairy farms to the wall (my family’s 150 cow herd was sold in 2006 after years of unsustainable losses).
