Since HB 1285 passed last month, dozens of citizen objections have been logged in Polk, Hillsborough, and Bay Counties by single individuals (assisted by special interest “freedom” and “liberty” groups).

This is what we have tracked so far via PRR. There will be more.

Update on the new challenges in Bay District Schools obtained through PRR.

More than two dozen citizen objections filed over the past month - all but two filed by the same person. All of them used Booklooks forms to generate their complaints.

Another update to the Collier County Public Schools list of permanently removed books returns 24 titles to the shelves including The Inheritance Games, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Girl with a Pearl Earring, On the Road, and The Impossible Life of Memory.

We are grateful to have authors write letters and show up to board meetings in an effort to help fellow citizens understand the heart behind their works.

But, saving a book from permanent banning shouldn’t take 3x as much effort as what’s required to initiate its banning.
