I extend my heartfelt thanks to Bob Bernhard as he steps down after 16 years as ND's VP for Research. Bob is a tremendous leader & has positioned us among the fastest-growing research institutions in the nation.

Bob, we wish you and Deb all the best as you begin a new chapter!

Recently we recognized the dedication and extraordinary accomplishments of over 350 staff colleagues celebrating service anniversaries ranging from 10 to 45 years.

Congratulations to our @NDLacrosse student-athletes and Coach Corrigan for winning the NCAA National Championship for the first time in program history. They played with determination and spirit. Go Irish!

Thanks to everyone who made our celebration of Commencement Weekend so beautiful and joyful. It takes many hands and much planning from teams across campus to host this special weekend. I am truly grateful for your hard work and for the many ways you embody the Notre Dame spirit.

We were delighted to honor Sister Rosemary Connelly, R.S.M., as the 2023 recipient of the Laetare Medal for her lifelong advocacy for individuals with disabilities. 

Thank you for your example of faith and love, Sr. Rosemary.

Amy Grant, award-winning musician and philanthropist, and one of our honorary degree recipients, closed Commencement with a moving performance of 'Breath of Heaven,' a prayerful meditation on Mary.

This morning we conferred degrees on the 2,141 undergraduate members of the Class of 2023. We are grateful to Nobel Peace Prize Winner & former Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos for his inspiring address.

As we do each Commencement Weekend, we gathered in the Joyce Center for Mass last evening for a beautiful and prayerful liturgy.

May the members of the Class of 2023 experience God's grace and love as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

This morning we celebrated those graduates receiving Master's and doctoral degrees at the Graduate School Commencement. We are proud of their many accomplishments and know they will do much good in the world. Congratulations and God's blessing on all of these graduates!

Last night, the Class of 2023 made their last official visit to the Grotto as University of Notre Dame undergraduate students. It was a special time of prayer and coming together as a community of faith as we begin Commencement Weekend.

I enjoyed meeting Kristen Friday & Miguel Coste today to congratulate them on being named valedictorian & salutatorian. They are worthy representatives of the accomplishments of the great Class of 2023.  We look forward to celebrating them & all our graduates this weekend.
