As everyone knows it doesn't end with the digging. Many many thanks to all of those who spent their Heritage Week washing the Drumanagh animal bones in Swords Castle. Absolute stars!

The end is nigh...final recording, registering of samples and bone and some lovely visitors (only one of whom we put to work)-including Dr Tracy Collins of the National Monuments Service.
We got one trench backfilled...one to go!

There was some serious removal of stony layers across both trenches. Lots of animal bone and quite a few pits being revealed-tomorrow's work!

Lots more pottery today-Brian found some a lovely hunk of amphora and Mick some decorated Samian ware, while the eagle eyed Rosaleen spotted part of a glass bead sieving.

Despite a grim start we were revived by cake-thanks Warren-and lots of interested visitors including Fin O'Carroll and her entourage. Planning ongoing in 5A with completion of topsoil removal in 5B onto stony surface. Small rest and we'll be back on Monday
